4Handy Safe to store valuables at Water Parks / PoolsJul 25, 2009
By K. Ponder
Got this to take to a local water park. The park charges $7/day for a locker and all I wanted to keep safe was some food/drink money, car keys, and park passes. This fits the bill. It will pay for itself after just a few visits. Lock it to your lounge chair and throw a beach towel over it. Unless the thief hauls out the entire chair or brings big wire cutters / hammer to the park (unlikely), you'll be fine.

You set your own 4 digit combination. I would advise doing this at home as the first time I did have to read the instructions. It involved pulling out the dials. Not intuitive. First time takes 10 minutes to figure it out. Future changes only take 2 minutes.

It is big enough to put my cel phone in also.

This thing is made of hard plastic and looks like it will last many years. Would have preferred it be white rather than bright yellow. It's not like the owner needs to alerted as to its location.

4Portable safe is handy.Oct 08, 2010
By Jane Drake "on the bayou"
I ordered this to supplement one I've had for years. I've taken it on many road trips, and felt comfortable locking my valuables to the car seat or a closet rod in motel rooms. At home I keep extra cash and gold coins safe from intruders. This yellow safe has a little shorter cable than my old one, so will be a little harder to strap onto an immovable object, but still works okay. Great peace of mind!

4useful but not elegantMay 08, 2010

This is a useful gadget, and inexpensive.

Pros; Useful, inexpensive, does not need a key, includes wire cable to secure to e.g. car seat frame, lightweight.

Cons: The shape is a bit odd IMO, it will not take a bifold wallet, the combination is not intuitive to change (see other review), not water resistant, bulky exterior for interior space available, must have cable to lock it.

Summary: Get two anyway.

5Decent lockbox... not a gun safe by any meansNov 14, 2011
By D.
This is the same product as the Lockr made about 15 years ago, except this iteration has a significantly shorter steel cable, and the original model came in black and grey, more neutral colors.

Security-wise, this is not meant to be a TL60x6 safe. Someone who has a couple good hand tools can be in in a couple of minutes of prying.

However, it is useful for other things. For example, a place to secure keys and wallet while at a swimming pool. Put stuff inside, chain it to a fencepost, and call it done. Another use is when RV-ing remotely, and this is used to stash keys in a hidden location.

I would not recommend using this to store a firearm or a spare car key. Instead, there are some decent metal safes that tether via a steel cable that might be OK, or even better yet, consider a lockbox that bolts down so it can't be taken with a set of bolt cutters.

All and all, if one knows this security device's limitations, it is worth having. It would be nice if Sentry could ship these with the original length of the steel cables.

4It is just what you think it isMay 05, 2013

Quality built, not expensive, matched my expectations - I like it. Made from a hard plastic, which I prefer to the metal.
